CORBAN
Disciples Make ministry was founded first and foremost out of a desire to honor God through our art, our lives, and our marriage. While the mission is simple, the journey to this point has not been easy.
Our story begins in Los Angeles, where I was living in a van and fell in love with a South African actress. We were both artists in our mid-twenties, pursuing our art—me as a painter, and Anele as a film student with dreams of the big screen. In God's perfect timing, our paths crossed, and we knew our lives would never be the same. Less than two years later, we were married and navigating life together as professional artists.
Shortly after getting married, we stumbled upon a church plant across the street from our apartment in North Hollywood. Through this community, we came to understand that we were called to dedicate our lives—and our art—to the Gospel.
I found myself immersed in the Los Angeles art and gallery scene, while Anele was now represented by an agent and manager. We were working, but something felt wrong. The industry often stood in opposition to our convictions. Script after script, show after show, we realized we couldn’t continue living this way—staying silent and compromising our values.
In this same season of life, we felt called to move to Atlanta—only to discover that the same pressures of the industry were present here. We realized we needed guidance in navigating this tension, so we began interviewing and sharing the stories of professionals who had successfully integrated their faith in Jesus into their careers and creative work. This marked the beginning of Disciples Make.

OVERVIEW
Disciples Make is a Christ-centered ministry and creative education center dedicated to forming disciples through the arts. We equip artists, filmmakers, and storytellers to glorify God through their craft, using creativity as a tool for discipleship, community, and Gospel-centered storytelling. Through classes, workshops, residencies, and mentorship programs, we cultivate both skill and faith, empowering creatives to use their gifts to impact culture, share the Gospel, and reflect the beauty of God's Kingdom. At Disciples Make, creativity and discipleship go hand in hand—every brushstroke, frame, and story becomes a testimony to Christ.
MISSION STATEMENT

To make and equip disciples to glorify God through their story and craft.

I encountered Jesus for the first time while deployed to the Middle East in 2012. While I had grown up around Christians, I never truly understood what it meant to be “Spirit-filled.” I was in the middle of a desert and I began to read a Bible for the first time. The words of Jesus took me captive. I remember surrendering my life to Him in my military tent. When I woke up the next day, it felt like I was seeing the world in a completely new way—almost as if I had been living with bad eyesight and could finally see clearly.
Since then, my deepest desire has been to share this good news with the world around me. It became clear to me that this is the only work that is truly eternal: the work of the Gospel.

I grew up in South Africa in schools shaped by Christian values and culture, but I did not truly know who the person of Jesus was. During college, after working for a television network, I felt a strong calling to pursue a career in film and television. After moving to Los Angeles, I found myself searching for anything “spiritual.”
One Sunday morning, we decided to walk across the street to an elementary school where a small church plant was meeting. There, I heard the Gospel clearly preached for the first time—about sin, repentance, and sanctification. A few months later, I was baptized. Through the strong discipleship of that church, I grew in my knowledge of the Lord and began to desire that my art and career would also glorify God.
